Bike & Hike Navigate app: your privacy
On every Sicily Biking Tours trip you find your route, GPS tracks and vouchers in our Bike & Hike Navigate app. Here is, in plain words, what the app does with your data.
- Your GPS position never leaves your phone.
- No account, no payment data, no analytics or advertising.
- We only record the date and time you open your trip with your code.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.
Who is responsible for my data?
The data controller is Bike & Hike S.R.L., Via Annibale De Leo, 19 – 72019 San Vito dei Normanni (BR), Italy. E-mail: booking@bikeandhikeitalia.com.
Why does the app ask for my location?
Only to show where you are on the map while you are following an active route. The position is processed entirely on your device: it is never sent to our servers or to anyone else, never stored by us and never used for advertising or profiling. It is only read while navigation is running, and you can stop navigation whenever you like. Access to your location is based on the explicit consent that your phone's operating system asks for the first time you start navigating.
What happens when I enter my access code?
The code arrives by e-mail when you book. It unlocks your trip: itinerary, GPS tracks and vouchers. These trip details (your name, programme and vouchers) are already held by us as part of your travel contract – the app does not collect them. They are downloaded from our server and saved on your phone, so you can use them offline. Every time the app is opened with a code, our server records the date and time, only to check that you have received and used access to your trip. This processing is necessary to perform the travel contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
Is anything else collected?
No. There is no account to create, no payment data, no third-party analytics or advertising tools, and no tracking of what you do outside the app.
Which external services are involved?
Two providers process data on our behalf: Railway, which hosts our servers and the trip database, and Resend, which sends the e-mails with your access code.
How long is my data kept?
On our servers, trip data is kept as long as needed to provide the service and to meet the contractual and tax obligations required by Italian law. The copy saved on your phone for offline use stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app.
What are my rights?
You can ask for access to your data, its correction or its deletion at any time by writing to booking@bikeandhikeitalia.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Can this policy change?
