Cycling in Sicily: Syracuse and the Coast is an easy 6-day, 5-night self-guided bike tour along the south-eastern coast of Sicily, from Marina di Ragusa to Syracuse. Along the way you ride past seaside villages and bird-rich marshes to the fishing village of Marzamemi, the Vendicari nature reserve, Baroque Noto and the island of Ortigia.

- Day 1
Marina di Ragusa
Make your own way to Marina di Ragusa, one of the loveliest seaside towns in south-eastern Sicily. Once a fishing village, it is now a popular coastal resort thanks to its long beaches and clear sea. Overnight in Marina di Ragusa.
- Day 2
Marina di Ragusa – Ispica
47 km · +578 mElevation profileHeading east, you follow the coast for the first 25 km through the villages of Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Sampieri and Marina di Modica. From there you leave the sea behind and ride inland to Ispica, through typical Sicilian countryside dotted with olive and carob trees. Overnight in Ispica.

Ispica – Marzamemi

From Ispica you return to the coast and ride past the beaches of Santa Maria del Focallo and the marshes of Pantano Longarini and Pantano Baronello, where migratory birds are often spotted. After passing close to the small island of Capo Passero, you reach Marzamemi, an old and picturesque fishing village. Overnight in Marzamemi.

Marzamemi – Noto

The highlight of the day is the Vendicari Nature Reserve, with its beaches and its old tonnara, where tuna was once caught and processed. An easy ride then brings you to Lido di Noto, perfect for a break on the sandy beach. The last stretch climbs gently to Noto, the “Capital of Baroque”. Overnight in Noto.

Noto – Siracusa

The final stage takes you from Noto to Syracuse, one of the most elegant cities of the Mediterranean. The city has two souls: the modern town on the mainland and Ortigia, the beautiful island that forms its historic heart. Syracuse has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. How long is the tour and how much does it cost?
6 days and 5 nights, from € 800 per person in a double room (Economy category, low season). Deluxe hotels start at € 1,095 per person.
Where does the tour start and end, and how do I get there?
It starts in Marina di Ragusa and ends in Syracuse. The nearest airports are Comiso, close to Ragusa, for the start and Catania for the end; airport transfers are not included but can be arranged on request.
How difficult is it and how many kilometres will I ride?
It is an easy tour: 189 km in four riding days, between 38 and 52 km a day. The hilliest stage, Marina di Ragusa – Ispica, has 550 m of climbing.
When is the best time to go, and are there seasonal supplements?
You can start any day of the year; the best-value periods are spring (outside Easter), May and late September to December. Prices are higher in high season (around Easter in 2026, mid-July to 24 August and the Christmas holidays), and an August supplement of € 185 (Economy) or € 360 (Deluxe) applies from 1 to 24 August.
Which bikes are available? Can I rent an e-bike?
Yes. A touring bike is included in the price; you can upgrade to an e-bike for € 115 or a road bike for € 55.
